The present, and future, informed by the past

Nationally, a potential upswing in home sales is anticipated by many as we approach 2024, drawing from the historical link between the rise in mortgage applications and the subsequent surge in home sales. This projection heavily relies on the maintenance of current mortgage interest rates or a potential slight decrease as we transition into the new year.

Meanwhile, sales on the Monterey Peninsula have experienced a minor deceleration, although housing prices remain strong. This month is trending towards a lower sales volume, attributed partly to seasonal trends and exacerbated by the peak in mortgage interest rates observed in late October and early November. A more detailed and comprehensive update on the local market will be provided in the forthcoming weeks.
