San Antonio 2 SW of 10th
"Crows Nest," a sunny beach house on the west side of San Antonio Avenue, with views from Point Lobos to the Pebble Beach Golf Links. I represented the buyers.
A beach house above the rest
The west side of San Antonio Avenue is one of the most sought-after streets in Carmel-by-the-Sea, and this home shows why. It's aptly named Crows Nest: there's an ocean-view balcony off the living room, plus a rooftop deck off the primary suite that puts you up above the neighborhood.
From up there, the views run from Point Lobos across the bay to the Pebble Beach Golf Links, with the white sand of Carmel Beach right below. It has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths in about 1,770 square feet, mature gardens front and back, and a one-car garage.
You're just steps from the beach and an easy walk to the shops, galleries and restaurants downtown. It's the kind of Carmel-by-the-Sea getaway a lot of buyers picture when they first start looking, and very few of them come up.
My buyers wanted a significant ocean view, and I knew this one wouldn't last. It hit the market on a Thursday and I sent it to them right away. They thought they might come down that weekend. I told them to get in the car now, because there was already activity on it. They dropped everything and came.
The sellers had reports on the property, and I brought my contractor through too. Given the activity, we needed an exceptionally strong offer, so we went slightly above list and waived all contingencies. I don't generally recommend that for buyers, but every situation is different, and I walked my clients through the benefits and drawbacks clearly. It was the way to win the house without a bidding war. We were in contract that Saturday, two days after it listed, and closed in about a week and a half.
What makes it special: the house sits higher than its neighbors on the west side of San Antonio, so the upstairs primary suite and deck get nearly panoramic views, south to Point Lobos, west over Carmel Bay, and north to Pebble Beach and Stillwater Cove. You get views that rival, and often beat, many homes on Scenic Road, without the tourist foot traffic out front. And as the surfers know, it can feel a few degrees warmer here than on Scenic. My buyers love this house, and it's going to be an exceptional investment for them.
"Jonathan helped us purchase a home in Carmel-by-the-Sea. We found him to be proactive and patient. We never felt pressured, only well informed. Once the sale was completed, he continued to help us with various follow up items and made the entire process streamlined. We strongly recommend him."Elaine · Buyer · More client reviews
