Private golf clubs on the Monterey Peninsula
Some of the best golf here isn’t bookable at any price. Here are the private and member clubs, what each one says publicly about access, and how they connect to where you live.

The short version: Cypress Point Club and Monterey Peninsula Country Club are private clubs in Pebble Beach. In Carmel, Tehama Golf Club is private and by invitation only, and The Preserve Golf Club is open to Santa Lucia Preserve and National members. Quail Lodge is semi-private and takes public tee times. None of these clubs publishes membership costs on its site, so I don’t quote any.

None of these clubs lists initiation fees or dues on its website. Figures you see on third-party sites aren’t confirmed, so I leave them out.
Homes and clubs are separate
Some clubs sit inside residential communities, like The Preserve and Tehama. Ask each club how membership relates to owning a home there before you buy.

Club life and where you buy
Club access often shapes which neighborhood fits. Pebble Beach, the Santa Lucia Preserve, and Tehama are very different places to live.
